DONATIONS & SUPPORT
All volunteer spaces are currently filled until August 2022
VOLUNTEER all applicants must be 5th grade or higher
Team ECCO is a special place to spend time. The Aquarium & Shark Lab is a teaching aquarium where our volunteers help run the Aquarium! You will become filled with knowledge about, and passion for this salty world.
All volunteers start at the same level, learning the Aquarium from the sand up! This ensures that every volunteer understands the importance of each job at the aquarium, from sweeping the floors to feeding the sharks. Skills are checked regularly by written "pop quiz" or practical skill demonstrations. The more you ask to learn, the more you get to do.
All inquiries begin by filling in the volunteer form. All applicants must be 5th grade and up. Once you have submitted the form, we will contact you to set up an in-person interview. If a prospective volunteer is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present at the interview. We want to be completely transparent in our volunteer expectations, and a big part of fulfilling these expectations is parent understanding.
Selected volunteers sign an agreement that outlines a code of conduct, dress code, and expectation of responsibilities. Each volunteer undergoes a 30-day trial during which he/she can evaluate if they are interested in pursuing a volunteer position at Team ECCO. We understand that our volunteer selection and training process seems very structured- that is because it is. Our volunteers are learning how an aquarium works, and what it takes to keep captive animals healthy and well fed. Volunteers assist with touch tank interactions and educating the public about what we do at Team ECCO. That knowledge requires training, and we are committed to providing our volunteers with the best training there is.
